Jaguar XJ40 Tires
Jaguar XJ40
During the 1970s, Jaguar initiated a collaboration with Pirelli to engineer a tire to enhance the performance of the XJ6, XJ12, and XJ V12 models. This collaboration resulted in the development of the P5 series of tires.
When Jaguar moved onto the next model the XJ40, they often fitted the 390mm wheels fitted with 220/65VR390 millimetric tires. However, Jaguar also offered a 15” wheel option for the XJ40, which was fitted with 225/65WR15 PIRELLI CINTURATO™ P5. Pirelli is again making this tire specifically for the Jaguar XJ40, and it has the J homologation.
Jaguar XJ40 Tires
Jaguar has maintained a longstanding association with Pirelli Tyres, frequently selecting Pirelli as the original equipment manufacturer for their vehicles. Given this association, for the Jaguar XJ40 which originally utilized tires of the size 225/65R15, the currently reproduced 225/65 WR 15 P5 is deemed highly suitable. Originally, the tire was specified with a Z rating, implying a speed capability of 149 mph; however, the modern 225/65 WR 15 P5 iteration has been upgraded to accommodate speeds up to 168 mph.
