Alfa Romeo Duetto Tires

The beautiful Alfa Duetto Spider when it was first produced had the same size tire as the Giulietta and fitted 155HR15 PIRELLI CINTURATO ™ CA67 tires that are still made by Pirelli. Today they would still be the perfect tire for these early Duetto Spiders, not just because they look so good, but they also give excellent handling characteristics.

If you really want to fit a wider tire, then Pirelli also make a 175/70WR15 PIRELLI CINTURATO™ CN36. Other wider tires will spoil the handling more than the CN36 because the CN36 is a tire that is actually designed to be fitted to an older chassis.

The later Duetto Spider changed to 14" wheels and they fitted 165HR14 PIRELLI CINTURATO ™ CA67, again this is still a perfect tire for the car for appearances and excellent handling. The Alfa Romeo Spider fitted 165HR14 PIRELLI CINTURATO ™ CA67 tires. There are cheaper tires available, but the only reason to buy the cheaper tires is their price. Pirelli are one of the worlds best tire manufacturers. The Cinturato gives excellent handling as well as looking perfect, so it is the obvious choice.

Low Profile Alfa Romeo Spider Tires

It is not suggested that a wider tire will improve the handling of an Alfa Spider, though Alfa themselves did offer 185/70R14 tires as an option on there later cars. If you want a wider tire Pirelli also make a 185/70VR14 PIRELLI CINTURATO ™ CN36. The advantage with the CN36 on a Spider over any other wider tire is that the CN36 is a tire that was used by Alfa in the day, but it is also a tire that is built to compliment a classic car design like the Alfa Romeo Spider, and will handle progressively, unlike anything modern.

For early Alfa Duetto Spiders fitting the 15” wheels Pirelli now make a 175/70WR15 PIRELLI CINTURATO™ CN36. This is a low profile alternative to the original 155HR15 PIRELLI CINTURATO ™ CA67 that the Duetto left the factory with. A Duetto will still handle nicer on a proper period 155R15 Cinturato, however of you prefer the look of a wider tire or have wider wheels that need a wider tire the 175/70WR15 PIRELLI CINTURATO™ CN36 will handle better on your car than any other more modern low profile tire which will ruin the progressive handling.

Pirelli now also make a 185/70VR14 PIRELLI CINTURATO ™ CN36. Again if you want he wider tire on your Spider then the CN36 is the perfect option, because it has a carcass structure designed to be fitted to cars of this period.
