220/55 VR 390 TRX Tires
In the Mid 1970s Michelin developed the TRX range of super low profile Tires for the top cars of the period. Ferrari promptly took advantage of this new technology by fitting these new 220/55 VR 390 TRX on their fabulous 308 GTBi and GTSi. (The earlier versions of the Ferrari 308 fitted 205/70VR14 tires. 16” wheels were also an option with 205/55R16 Pirelli P7 front and 225/50R16 Pirelli P7 Rear).
The Ferrari Mondial originally came with 240/55 VR 390 Michelin TRX tires front and rear, however in 1986 the Mondial 3.2 changed to fitting the smaller front tire with the 220/55VR390 TRX tires fitting on the front.
The 220/55 R 390 Michelin TRX tires were also fitted to a wide range of top end classic BMW from the 1970s and 1980s.
It is important to note this 220/55 VR 390 Michelin TRX can only be fitted to a 390mm TRX wheel. Inner tubes cannot be fitted in any 220/55R390 tires.
