Description
235/60R15
235/60WR15 PIRELLI P600 – In 1987, Jaguar underwent significant alterations in its tire and rim specifications for several models. The XJS 3.6, 4.0 Coupe, and Convertible, for instance, were equipped with 7-inch rims. Accommodating these modifications, Jaguar opted for the wider 235/60R15 size, specifically the PIRELLI P600. Moreover, the Jaguar XJS V12 and the inaugural Jaguar XJR-S V12 5.3 also adopted the 235/60R15 Pirelli P600.
Pirelli introduced the P600 tire in the mid-1980s, a significant innovation designed explicitly in the 235/60 R 15 size. It showcased an engineered tread pattern designed to minimize the risks of aquaplaning, offering drivers enhanced safety. Further testament to its quality was its outstanding grip during cornering in both wet and dry conditions, even at high speeds.
235/60WR15 Tires
In 1987, the luxury-performance-oriented Jaguar XJS HE was outfitted with the 235/60VR15 P600, which carried a V speed rating. While the 1987 version of the tire held a V speed rating, Pirelli has since updated its specifications in response to enduring demand and evolving standards. The modern iteration is now termed the 235/60WR15 P600, where the W rating distinctly indicates its capacity for speeds up to 170 mph.
For a while, the 235/60 R 15 Pirelli P600 was absent from the market. However, acknowledging its historical importance and continued demand, Pirelli reissued it as a component of their Collezione series. This decision ensures Jaguar XJS HE aficionados can equip their vehicles with a tire that aligns with its original performance and design criteria.
