Pirelli developed the P-Zero Assimetrico in 1986. Its tread compounds were developed on the race track and the carcass of the P-Zero Assimetrico is a complicated structure including Kevlar reinforcement and of course the famous P-Zero Assimetrico tread pattern with an asymmetric series of different tread patterns across the footprint performing different jobs depending where on the tread they are. All put together to make this 255/50YR16 Pirelli P-Zero Assimetrico the fabulous tire that it is.

The Ferrari 288GTO was initially equipped with Goodyear NCT tires, having measurements of 225/50R16 for the front and 255/50R16 tires at the back. As of now, Goodyear has ceased production of classic car tires. Back in 1986, Pirelli introduced their P-Zero technology which featured directional tires for the front and Assimetric ones for the back, aiming to deliver superior performance for vehicles like the 288GTO and Testarossa.
