Description
6.00-16 Tires
During the 1950s, the majority of elite supercars worldwide predominantly employed 6.00-16 bias ply tires. Renowned models such as the Jaguar XK120, XK140, & XK150, Aston Martin’s range from DB2 to DB4, Ferrari 250, and Maserati 300S are a few notable examples. Among these, Italian legends often opted for the 600-16 PIRELLI STELLA BIANCA™ Presently, Pirelli continues to produce the distinguished 600-16 PIRELLI STELLA BIANCA™ Uniquely, it’s the sole bias ply tire boasting a V speed rating, making it an ideal choice for vehicles like the 250F Maserati and the C-Type Jaguar.
6.00×16
The 600-16 PIRELLI STELLA BIANCA™ tire tread pattern was advanced for its era, and prominently featured trapezoidal blocks, which were intricately linked by robust “bridges.” These design elements were meticulously crafted to prevent tearing, even at elevated speeds. Remarkably, this innovative tread design maintained its originality and remained mostly consistent until the 1950s, serving as a testament to the tire’s superior performance and steadfast reliability.
In 1927, Pirelli debuted its first modern automobile tire, developed from the lessons learned in racing. Dubbed the STELLA BIANCA, or White Star, the distinctive tread pattern became Pirelli’s signature, and its bias ply design proved so advanced that the tire remained in production into the 1950s. Now, at the request of classic car owners, Pirelli has restarted STELLA BIANCA manufacturing, introducing its first new bias ply tire in more than 50 years.
