The 205/55YR16 PIRELLI CINTURATO P7 N is a classic 205/55 R16 performance tire from Pirelli’s iconic P7 range. The 1970s supercar evolution, marked by impressive speed and power, prompted the need for wider, lower-profile tires. Pirelli introduced the Pirelli P7 in January 1976, first debuting on the Porsche 911 Carrera Turbo, This 205/55 YR 16 classic tire was soon adopted by prestigious models like the Lamborghini Urraco, Countach, De Tomaso Pantera, and select Ferrari models. While the original P7 had a V-rated speed of 149 mph, its modern counterpart flaunts a Y-rating, capable of 186 mph. Notably, many P7 tires come with Porsche’s ‘N’ stamp, marking their approval for classic performance vehicles. Pirelli has revived the P7, blending contemporary materials with its iconic tread pattern, ensuring it remains a preferred classic tire.

From 1985 Porsche started to offer 16” wheels as an option on its 911, fitting the new 205/55YR16 PIRELLI CINTURATO ™ P7 N on the front and 225/50 YR 16 PIRELLI CINTURATO ™ P7 on the rear of the Porsche 930 Turbo, 911 Carrera Coupe, 911 Sport, and Targa Sport and 911 Cabriolet and Cabriolet Sport.

From 1986 the 911 Turbo Sport used 205/55YR16 PIRELLI CINTURATO ™ P7 N on the front with a 245/45YR16 PIRELLI CINTURATO ™ P7 on the rear. In 1987 this set-up with the larger rears moved onto the 911 Carrera SS, 911 Targa, Coupe and Cabriolet. The 16” P7 set-up became commonplace towards the end of the ‘80s on most of the Porsche 911 range and into the 964, 968 and even 993 range of the early ‘90s. The 205/55R16 PIRELLI CINTURATO ™ P7 N is also an option for the mid-’80s 924 S and was also the front tire on 944 Lux, S, Turbo and Cab models from the mid-’80s into the ‘90s.
